L'AUTORITE DE L'ECRITURE

Au moment de se lancer dans un nouveau projet d'envergure sur « la Bible, ses traditions et sa réception », l'École biblique de Jérusalem s'est livrée à un recadrage herméneutique : s'il faut continuer à toujours mieux traduire la Bible, il faut surtout l'annoter" à nouveau en opérant un travail important de discernement. Que retenir de l'accumulation de données historiques et d'hypothèses ? Qu'est-ce qui est utile au lecteur du XXIe siècle ? Où se situer pour proposer traduction, annotation et commentaire ? On comprend que la question du Canon et de l'autorité de l'Écriture était une des premières à devoir être posée. -- On the point of launching a new major project on « the Bible, its traditions, its reception », the Ecole Biblique de Jerusalem decided to redefine the hermeneutic approach: if we are to go on producing translations of increasing quality, they must be 'annotated' anew after lengthy and discerning study. What should be conserved of the accumulated mass of historical data and hypotheses? What will be useful to the 21st century reader? How should we position our proposed translations, annotations and commentaries? One understands why the question of Canon and the authority of the Scriptures was one of the first to be posed."
