The Fraternity is undoubtedly the essential characteristic of Freemasonry. Now, this fraternal bond begins in the history of humanity with a fratricide, the murder of Abel by his brother Cain. This relationship between brothers has therefore not ceased to reveal itself, throughout the Bible, very often paradoxical, because source of rivalries and conflicts fuelled by jealousy and misunderstanding. Why is the Masonic Brotherhood so special, since it is not based on a blood bond? What singular form does it take, what is its most accomplished expression?
