'To titillate one's sweet tooth, one should begin by attracting th eye.' Louis Lefèvre-Utile. Petit-Beurre, Paille d'Or, and Petit Ecolier are just some of the varieties of LU biscuits that are connected to the history and heritage of Nantes. Within the space of a century, the Lefèvre-Utile family saw their small artisanal pâtisserie grow into a vast factory whose success was due to its modern equipment and its concern for quality. The restored factory, an emblem of a glorious past, is now part Nantes' urban landscape: the LU Tower and its restored dome stand proudly amongst the city's other cultural and historic landmarks. Today, the former Lefèvre-Utile site is known as the 'Lieu Unique'.
