Understanding the mechanism of cellular biology and microcirculation interdependency is the cornerstone of this work. Normally, a multicellular organism, like a human being, depends on circulatory fluids (e.g. blood) for the distribution of substrates at the cell membrane. Therefore, the main goal in case of cardiovascular diseases (CVD) is to restore blood flow dynamics and endothelial shear stress (ESS) that control vascular resistances and hemodynamics, no matter the heart condition is. This was proven with new generations of pulsatile circulatory assist devices that include: i) pulsatile catheter, tested in acute arterial pulmonary hypertension and acute myocardial ischemia animal models; ii) pulsatile tube, tested in animal models to transform a steady-flow of conventional heart lung machine into a pulsatile perfusion mode and as a pulsatile left ventricular assist device; iii) pulsatile suit, tested in animal models of acute right ventricular failure and in preclinical studies.
