mors et resurrectio (mort et résurrection)

I wrote the whole of the first complex as a real inferno, using virtually nothing but nioses. These end on the lowest note of the violin, which is also the starting point for the profound shock. While the first section is headed “sempre con fuoco e infernale” the headings for the following section are “misterioso e religioso” followed by “con calore” in an attempt to come to terms with these terrible, dreadful events. I have tried to end the piece in a way that will bring comfort to those concerned. Ruth Zechlin
