"Jazz Triptych" takes its lyricism, harmonies, rhythm and intrumentation from an eclectic range of traditional forms and models. As such, one can recognize traits of Waller and Kern in 'The things My Baby Does To Me', Gershwin and the Barber Shop in 'Under The Mood' (sprinkled with just a touch of Borodin!) and the Big Band sounds of Miller, Goodman and Ellington in the final movement 'Couldn't Be Happier'.
