The series of versions for wind quintet and double bass, published in the Edition Berliner Bach Akademie, now includes two more standard works for piano. While Mozart’s Rondo is characterized by playing with different quintet timbres, the chamber version of Schubert’s Fantasia emphasizes the dramatic and melancholic aspects of the original work. Heribert Breuer has reinvented the works, as it were, by re-creating the composition and making an audible distinction between his “versions” and arrangements in which the existing parts are just allocated to several instruments.
