"The Seeds of Love" is a fairy tale set in a distant village by a great river, where an old woman and her two granddaughters, Zaire and Blanchelys, live. The grandmother gives each girl a magic candle that can summon a fairy to grant their heart's wish. Blanchelys, who is kind and cheerful, eventually uses her candle to wish for the love of the King's son. A fairy named Love appears and gives her seeds to plant, which will grow into a rose-tree symbolizing the Prince's love for her. As the tree flourishes, so does the Prince's affection, leading to their marriage. However, Zaire, envious of Blanchelys' happiness, seeks to destroy the rose-tree. She uses her own candle to summon Envy, who gives her a viper to kill the tree. As the tree withers, the Prince's love fades, prompting Blanchelys to seek Love's help. Love reveals that only the blood from Blanchelys' heart can revive the tree. Sacrificing herself, Blanchelys restores the tree, and the Prince realizes his mistake. Zaire is banished, and the roses bloom red, symbolizing Blanchelys' sacrifice. The tale concludes with the King mourning Blanchelys and Zaire's downfall.
